Ms. Sarah Joseph has won this year's Muttathu Varkey Award, the highest award given for Malayalam Literature. It was constituted by Muttathu Varkey's fans, friends, and relatives. The winner was selected by popular opinion voting system and then prominent judges' final decision. Muttathu Varkey Kalalaya Award winner is Miss P Neetha, a student of Palakat Govt. Victoria College.
This is the20th Muttathu Varkey Award for Literature.
The former winners of this prestigious award
were O. V. Vijayan, Vaikom Mohammed Basheer, M. T. Vasudevan Nair, Kovilan,
Kakkanadan, VKN, Mukundan, Punathil Kunhabdulla, Anand, N. P. Mohammed, K.
J. Baby, Sethu, C. Radhakrishnan, Zacharia, Kamala Suryayya,
T.
Padmanabhan, M. Sukumaran, N.S. Madhavan and P.
Valsala. At
the primary level, 250 select readers are asked to express their
preferences. From among the majority ranked authors, a short list of five
will be prepared by the Muttathu Varkey Foundation. An award committee
will select the finalist from among the five
short
listed.
